Aaron Cowan

Aaron began his career in the United States Army (11M) in 1999, serving seven years in the infantry. During his time in the military he served as a rifleman, squad automatic rifleman and designated marksman; receiving training in small unit tactics, close quarters combat and ballistic and mechanical breaching.

After leaving active duty, Aaron worked as a private security contractor both CONUS and OCONUS; conducting convoy security, close protection details, static security and relief security during natural disasters.

Aaron served over ten years in law enforcement, both Federal and state, working both uniform and plain clothed assignments.  Aaron served as a SWAT/SRT member, Sniper section member, deputy SRT commander, Field Training officer and training coordinator.

In 2011, Aaron formed Sage Dynamics with the goal of maximizing training realism and developing more efficient problem solvers.  Aaron has trained thousands of students since Sage Dynamics taught its first course; every day citizens, law enforcement and military.  Sage has aided in the development of policies and training practices in use by state and federal law enforcement, and private security companies.  Aaron has also been instrumental in driving the adoption of red dot sights on handguns for duty use; He authored the first white paper on the subject and since its publication, it has been used in whole or in part by over 300 police departments world wide to justify the adoption of RDS sights for duty handguns.

Aaron continues to serve in law enforcement in addition to being an instructor with Sage Dynamics.

Jon Dufresne

Jon Dufresne Served with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, deploying multiple times in various capacities. Jon's time with the Ranger Battalion provided him with an insightful experience into working in austere environments against a dedicated enemy.  The Ranger Battalion also provided Jon with training and first hand experience in small unit tactics, airborne operations, field medicine, breaching, foreign languages and small arms.   

Upon leaving the Army, Jon worked in executive protection and acted as a law enforcement consultant, molding his military experience into a contextual view of the threats faced outside of combat environments.  Jon comes to Sage with an ideal blend of military and citizen; shaping his courses to apply to Mil, LE and citizen students alike.

Lucas is a veteran of the United States Army. Serving as an infantryman, scout, recon team leader, sniper, and sniper team leader. He as deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan in support security and counter-terrorism operations. After being wounded in action in 2013 he retired and began teaching precision rifle. Lucas continues to serve as a motivational speaker and resiliency advocate.

  • Red Dot Instructor

Luke Cifka

E. Michael Davis II, OMar, G.C. (Terrorism), 1SG USA (Ret)

Mr. Davis served 23 years in the US Army Reserve including over 9 years of active duty during 7 periods of mobilization. Mr. Davis served the Gulf War (1990-1), Bosnia (1997-8), three times in Iraq (2003, 2005-6, 2008) and Afghanistan (2010) as well as numerous other CONUS and OCONUS assignments. His career was entirely in the 31B, Military Police occupational specialty, serving in Combat Military Police Operations, Military Police Investigations, Police Intelligence Operations, SRT, PSD, EPW, Physical Security, Anti-Terrorism, Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism Operations. Mr. Davis retired as a First Sergeant from the USAR.

 

Mr. Davis has also served as a civilian and DoD police officer in South Carolina, England and Florida as a Patrol Officer, SWAT member, SWAT Instructor, Anti-Terrorism Officer, Physical Security Officer, Operations Officer and Training Officer. He continues to serve in the DoD Law Enforcement Community and as an Instructor for Sage Dynamics.
