Low Light Employment Instructor

Course length: Three Days

 

Course Description: 

Recognizing that low-light training is one of the most difficult areas to maintain proficiency and often one of the most neglected aspects of training in general, we have developed the Low Light Employment Instructor course to aid current and future instructors in development of course curriculum.  The LLEI course has been tailored to deliver students a fast-paced and informative experience that will allow them to adapt the course content to their existing training plans, modernize outdated models, or create new courses for LE/MIL and citizen students. 

 

Proper Instruction in the employment of white light as a deterrent, and for positive threat identification are the most important aspects of low light and the entire LLEI class it built around those goals.   Students will be required to meet basic course graduation requirements.

 

Topics of instruction include:

 

  • Real world safety

  • Light science

  • LE Legal compliance for low light training

  • Low light range management 

  • Equipment selection

  • Ammunition selection

  • light selection (weapon and handeld)

  • Handheld light use for deterrence, control

  • Handheld coupling techniques

  • Shooting positions

  • Austere shooting positions

  • Transition from handheld to weapon mounted light

  • Pistol to rifle/rifle to pistol transitions 

  • On cover/off cover shooting

  • Reloads and malfunctions under low light

  • Engagements in low light

  • Judgement shooting

Course Cost: $700.00 

Equipment:

  • Rifle (must hand sling)

  • 3+ rifle magazines

  • Handgun

  • Holster and magazine pouches

  • Handheld light

  • weapon mounted lights (if used) 

  • 500 rounds handgun

  • 500 Rounds rifle 

  • Spare batteries for all lights

  • Ear and eye protection

Optional (recommended) gear:

  • Gloves

  • Sunblock

  • Hydration

  • Field cleaning kit

  • Basic maintenance tools

  • Knee and elbow pads

  • Additional magazines for all weapons

 

Class size: Minimum of 10, no more than 15

 

Prerequisites: None, however students are encouraged to have an above-average marksmanship ability and prior experience as an instructor/teacher.
