Course length: Two Days

 

Course Description: 

Defensive Rifle is intended for anyone with little or no formal experience operating a rifle in a self defense manner.  While general understanding of the operation of the rifle (controls, safety, etc) is instructed, this course is focused on accuracy and manipulation for self-defense.  

Students will learn correct techniques for zero, mechanical offset, irons/optics use as well as fundamental techniques for employing the rifle in defense of self or others.  As Defensive Handgun is self defense focused, students are encouraged to train from realistic gear, be it citizen or occupational (LE/MIL).

*This course is not intended for anyone without a basic understanding of firearm operation, safety and general marksmanship.

Course instruction includes:

  • Real world safety

  • Equipment selection

  • Ammunition selection

  • Ideal zero distance

  • Zeroing Optical and holographic sights

  • Human anatomy and the 3D threat

  • Understanding stress effects on the body

  • Traditional shooting positions

  • Magazine reloads (emergency and tactical)

  • Immediate and remedial action for malfunctions

  • Basic movement

  • On cover/off cover shooting

  • Rifle-to-pistol/pistol-to-rifle transitions

  • Third party defense

Course Cost: $500.00

  • Rifle with 5-7 magazines

  • Handgun with 3 magazines

  • Handgun holster

  • Iron sights (BUIS) and optics (if used)

  • Rifle sling

  • 1000 Rounds rifle

  • 200 rounds handgun

  • Ear and eye protection

  • Hat

  • Long sleeves recommended

  • Single rifle pouch (min required.  PCs may be used if you desire)

Optional (recommended) gear:

  • Gloves

  • Sunblock

  • Hydration

  • Field cleaning kit

  • Basic maintenance tools

  • Knee and elbow pads

  • Additional magazines for all weapons

  • Rifle magazine belt pouch or chest rig

Class size: Minimum of 10, no more than 15
